Saint.-Martin/ Saint Maarten
The island is a unique Caribbean island and is shared between two nations; Dutch (Saint Maarten; with sovereignty of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) and French (Saint-Martin; with sovereignty of France). The two side's cultures differ and is recommended to keep in mind when booking one of our St. Martin villas for your next vacation.
The French side is elegant with its secluded beaches, resorts and villas with luxurious accommodations and fine dining. Many small cafés and bistros line the streets. The smell of French croissants and pastries in the air are enough to transport you to the busy streets of Paris. The latest French fashions can be found in most of the stores of St. Martin. This island is known for its secluded nude beaches, shopping, and rich French cuisine.
The Dutch side has a more upbeat feel. There is a cruise port on this half which keeps things busy. They also have a commercial district for trade and tourism. It is known for vibrant nightlife and their local rum based fruit liquors will have you dancing the night away. Take a walk along the Phillips Boardwalk at Great Bay Beach. This strip is full of bars, restaurants, and unique shops. There are also several casinos which located only on the Dutch half of the island.
Both the Dutch and French and sides of St. Martin are known for their truly duty-free one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
Recommendations for land lovers include a visit to the gourmet capital of the island Grand Case, a night out at one of the many nightclubs or bars with live music, a visit to one of the local fine arts galleries for a sampling of Caribbean Art, or try your luck at one of the Casinos. Recent years have seen the growth of many sports on the island that are aimed at both fitness and fun.
Staying in one of our St. Martin villa rentals will give you a chance to truly explore what this island has to offer. With trails and guided tours by foot, horseback, bicycles, and four wheelers, there are many ways to enjoy the islands historic sites and beautiful landscapes.
If you hike to the top of Pic Paradis on the French side, you can take in panoramic views of the entire island, as well as the neighboring islands of St. Barths, Anguilla, and St. Kitts. A view that will be sure to take your breath away.
You can also hike the Cliffs of Cupescoy on the Dutch side for amazing views.
Golf, tennis, beach volleyball, mountain biking and horseback riding are just a few of the adventure activities awaiting you in St.Martin.
An island surrounded by calm bright blue waters has a lot to offer when it comes to water sports. If you love an island that offers two distinct cultures in one picturesque setting, consider a St. Martin villa rental for your next vacation.
St Martin is roughly 37 square miles and offers breathtaking views from beautiful mountain Vistas of the Caribbean and Atlantic Oceans. A scenic 'loop' around the island can take just half a day with i plenty of stops included. If you head up the eastern shoreline from Philipsburg, follow the signs to Dawn Beach and Oyster Pond. The road winds past soaring hills and turquoise waters.
The 38 Beaches of St. Martin/St. Maarten are world famous for their beautiful white sand and turquoise blue waters. Each beach is unique, and all beaches are open to the public. Coral reefs populated by colorful marine life fringe the coast, and several tiny islets with lovely beaches are just a short distance away.
The best places to find St. Martin shopping outlets are in Marigot on the French side and Philipsburg on the Dutch side. Front Street is Philipsburg's main duty-free drag, with dozens of quaint shops and elegant boutiques to choose from. Look for Carat and Little Europe for a fine selection of china and jewelry.
The rue de la Liberté and rue de la République in Marigot top French St. Martin shopping destinations, where a charming jumble of architecture houses the city's chic shops and duty-free boutiques. For cosmetics and perfume Lipstick is the place to be. If you wanted you could do practically all of your St. Martin shopping at Manek's, which sells a diverse selection of duty-free favorites.
Local grocery stores are available for you to enjoy with your villa rental. The international grocery shopping offers interesting gifts, exotic sauces, cheeses and chocolates. You will find some great buys on imported products. Unlike many shops, the grocery stores list prices in Guilders and Euros only, so you will have to do a little arithmetic to figure out the value of your purchases. Please remember that if you advise the cashier that you wish to pay in Dollars, the Cash register may do the conversion for you.
As you cross over to the French side, the road leads from the islands oldest settlement known as the French Quarter to Cule de Sac and the secluded, luxurious district of Anse Marcel . Be sure to take and enjoyable drive to what is known as the "restaurant capital of the Caribbean", Grand Case.
Marigot is the capital of the French side and Sandy Ground . From Marigot, the flat island of Anguilla is visible. Completing the loop of the island brings you past Cupecoy Beach, through Maho and Simpson Bay , where Saba looms in the horizon, and back over the mountain road into Philipsburg.
There are two airports serving St. Martin.
The main St. Martin airport, Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is on the Dutch side of the island near the southwestern coast and is served by international airlines from the United States, Canada and Europe.
There is also the Aeroport de l'Espérance on the French side, is small and only accepts island-hopper planes.

Temperatures can range from 23 degrees Celsius (75 F) in the winter to 32 degrees Celsius (90 F) in the summer. The average temperature is 26 degrees Celsius (80 F), and will generally vary only a few degrees, even in the summer months. Trade winds, combined with air conditioning and the water make the increased heat and humidity in the summer months only a minor issue for most tourists. The island's elevated interior can also offer reprieve from the warmer climate on the outskirts. In the winter temperatures can dip somewhat in the morning and evening, occasionally making for a cool night.

"We had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation at St. Maarten. Beautiful surroundings, coupled with great food and a relaxed ambience. The villa was excellent, very contemporary, but comfortable decor and the kids loved the pool. The staff, house keeper, chef, concierge, everyone was super helpful and courteous. They met all our needs."

"This was far and away the most positive vacation experience I have had. The degree of personal service and responsiveness throughout the entire process-- from my initial inquiry through our departure -- was incredible, and the villa itself was perfect. I could not be happier."

"The villa exceeded all expectations. It is large, beautifully furnished and laid out in a family friendly configuration. We were a party of ten including four grown children, four grandchildren, my wife and myself, and each of us was able to find the togetherness or privacy that we wished. The housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient and the transportation to and from the airport as well as the rental cars were all handled promptly and efficiently."

"Thank you so much for checking in and my apologies for the delayed response. We had such a fantastic time in St. Maarten. The villa was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we were hoping for. We appreciated all of your help and professionalism with the planning and we look forward to booking our next Caribbean destination through you. We will probably do another similar beach vacation early next year (probably next February) so we'll let you know as soon as we're ready to start looking at possible locations."
