What's your favorite getaway destination?
I absolutely LOVE a quick getaway to Puerto Rico! For New Years Eve I went to Vieques, PR and it was fabulous, the perfect place to chill and relax. My favorite American city is New Orleans, it's the perfect combination of amazing music, food and cultural diversity, plus you can drink in the street! What's not to love?
Why?
I'm often fortunate to receive upgrades when I travel. When I score a suite, that's enough of a reason to have a party. It's a wonderful way to see all of my friends all at once versus spending my entire trip trying to see 10 separate people for breakfast and lunch.
What's your favorite way to entertain when you're away?
I have an obsession with art & architecture. I've been fortunate enough to be able to travel to amazing locales where I can have a great vacation but also be inspired by great art ! My favorite trip where I combined my love of travel with art and architecture was Barcelona for Gaudi's 100th anniversary, it was the trip of a lifetime.
What is it about the local culture that you love?
Being born and raised in Harlem has given me a natural curiosity for local culture no matter where I travel. When I visited Capetown I found it very beautiful but quite sterile, I met a lovely taxi driver and he gave me a tour of a township. My trip instantly went from just another vacation at a luxury resort to a trip filled with culture and history.

I do my best thinking on an airplane and much of my travel is for
business. I find that reading the Four Agreements steadies my "nerves"
before I head into "battle".
Gear
A Goyard tote to use as a spare bag. I always overpack so I know I
won't have any room for delightful finds I pick up along the way. The
tote is foldable so it fits into a side pocket waiting for glorious
souvenirs.
Fashion
Two fashion essentials - a DVF wrap dress in silk jersey. An easy item
to wear and accessorize as needed depending on the occasion.
A Loro Piana shawl, perfect for the plane as a blanket or pillow.
Once you land it converts back to a proper gorgeous wrap. One of my
favorites is a pale pink with an ombré effect.
